Parent Information

We need parent volunteers to get Grad Night 2010 rolling!

It's time to volunteer! Read the Volunteer page to see what you can sign up for, or join a decorations team. The "hard part" for coming up with decoration plans has been done by various parent committees; now comes the fun part -- join us at the next Emerson walk-through to see the plans & how we intend to implement it to meet the super-secret theme for this year's graduating class party!

Grad Night is an all volunteer effort. There are still hundreds of positions available, some large and some small to fit everyone's schedule. There are activities positions, organizational positions, and of course, decorating jobs. All of the positions can be job-shared between you and a friend; sign up as a team!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Grad Night?
An annual drug and alcohol free graduation celebration for students graduating from the Davis Joint Unified School District.  Grad Night was developed in response to a growing problem of alcohol-related car accidents and deaths involving recent high school graduates.  Grad Night has become a way for the entire community to focus on a project conceived to save the lives of our graduating seniors by providing a fun, safe event.  Davis Grad Night is sponsored, organized and operated by all-volunteer parents with the generous support of the community. Typically 90% of the graduating class attends the event.

But I'm Not Creative!
Can you use tape or a staple gun?  That's really all the skill you need; it's no more complicated than wrapping a birthday package! And if decorating isn't your thing, then contact us to find out what fits your interests and your schedule. There are literally hundreds of jobs to fill.

But I Work!
So do nearly all of the volunteers.  The time commitment for Grad Night can be big or small and only in the evening hours for now.
If you can give us only an hour of your time, we will appreciate it. It is one of those "school experiences" that you won't want to miss!
